About

I am a Ph.D. student in Northwestern University’s Linguistics Department. My research interests are computational linguistics and sociolinguistics. The labs I am affiliated with are LingMechLab and SocioGroup.

My research examines the relationship between mental health and language. So far, my research has focused on how online social support groups engage in emotional support as a community of practice.

I received my B.A. in Linguistics and Japanese with a minor in Psychology from Calvin University in 2022. For my Linguistics undergraduate honors thesis and project for the Calvin Student Research Fellowship, I researched the language of an online suicide support community. In addition, I worked for the Japanese Department as a supplemental class instructor from April 2020 until April 2022.
